Barton J. Romanek, MD (Retired)

Dr. Romanek completed his undergraduate studies in Zoology at the University of Toronto in Canada, receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1972. Following that, he completed his Medical Degree at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and his specialty training in family medicine at the McMaster University Medical Center in 1977, becoming board certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He is recognized as a Fellow and Life Member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and a Fellow and Life Member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. 

Dr. Romanek, the founder of Lockhart Family Medicine, retired in September, 2023 after 45 years in medical practice. He leaves behind many fond memories and friendships of his patients and a legacy of practicing Family Medicine with very personal and high quality health care. 


Kimberly M. Wheeler, MD

Dr. Wheeler joined Lockhart Family Medicine in 2006. She completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University graduating Summa Cum Laude. She then received her Medical Degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School in San Antonio graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Wheeler completed her residency training at Christus Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program in San Antonio and is board certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine. She is an active member of the Travis County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. She and her husband Russell reside in Lockhart with their two daughters where she desires to grow her practice by providing excellent medical care to the community.


Danielle Hastings, P.A.-C

Danielle joined Lockhart Family Medicine in 2018. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health at Texas A&M University and then received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Danielle is licensed by the Texas Medical Board and certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

In Danielle’s leisure time she likes spending time with her husband, family and friends, playing golf, spending time outdoors, cooking and watching Aggie Football. She is thrilled to be a part of the Lockhart Family Medicine team and looks forward to serving and providing compassionate and quality care to the community.


Rachel Rose, P.A.-C

Rachel joined Lockhart Family Medicine in 2021. She received her bachelor’s degree in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado, and she completed her physician assistant studies at Yale University where she received a Master of Medical Science. Rachel is licensed by the Texas Medical Board, certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Rachel has a passion for family medicine because it allows her to get to know her patients and form a trusting relationship while providing quality medical care. Outside of medicine, Rachel enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband and dog, as well as traveling, trying new foods, and reading.
